Account Drill Down on the Annual Financial Statements (Desktop)
What it is: A feature that lets you right-click any cell on the Annual Financial Statements and see a breakdown of all the individual accounts that make up that cell's balance.
What it's for
When reviewing the Annual Financial Statements, a single line item (such as "Property, Plant and Equipment") may be fed by many different accounts from the Working Trial Balance. The drill-down feature lets you inspect exactly which accounts are included in a cell, verify that each account is assigned to the right link number, and correct any mislinks — all without leaving the financial statements.
How to do it
Viewing the Account Drill Down
- In the Annual Financial Statements, right-click on the cell you want to investigate.
- Select Show Drill Down from the context menu.
- A panel opens listing all accounts linked to that cell, along with their balances and link numbers.
- To reassign an account to a different link number, click the arrow next to its current link number and select the correct one from the list.
- Alternatively, if a cell is already selected, use the Drill Down option in the right-hand side panel — no right-click required.
Tip: Use this feature whenever a figure on the financial statements looks unexpected — it quickly confirms whether the right accounts are driving the number.
